We had several of our
students participate in our stall decorating contest in C Barn on
December 20th.
Everyone did a fantastic job. Way to show your great team work
skills! It really made the barn look festive. We recognized a
variety of categories for this event. Best Stall is awarded to Team
Jack, consisting of Emma, Daria and Ava. Most traditional stall was
Team Louie, including Amelie and Chelsey. Best Bling was definitely
Team Max, made up of Kayley and Amy. Best Wreath goes to Team Karma,
and Anthoine. Best theme (The Grinch) is awarded to Team Foxy, with
Madison and Allegra. Great Job and Thank You to everyone who
participated or donated snacks and hot beverages on that chilly day!
A big thank you also goes
out to Wendy for making each of our much loved school horses a bag of
treats for their stalls. They had apples, carrots and a bag of
homemade horse cookies that Wendy makes using the recipe from our
last newsletter. The horses loved the treats!
August 24th, 2014 The 45th Year Anniversary Open House
The Open House celebrating 45 years of the club was a great success! We were fortunate with great weather and a big turnout to watch the demonstrations.
Our local celebrity, Phil Lemieux, from 'Man Tracker', gave a great demonstration on roping, followed by his daughter Brittany and her World Champion Barrel Racing mare showing everyone the techniques for Barrel Racing success.
We were honoured to have Mayor Representative Frank Fata speak on behalf of the city. Our 'Work to Ride' team performed a musical ride. This was then followed by the always entertaining, Dog and Pony show and a Jumping Relay.
Thanks so much to everyone for all their help and effort to make the place look great and the day run smoothly!
On
December 27th
we held our Snow Flake Fun Show. We had eight riders participate,
plus a few more who came to cheer everyone on and help out. We
paired up two riders per horse and competed in four fun games. Some
were individual challenges and others were team and relay based.
Keeping with our winter theme, the games were Ride A Snowflake, Snow
Ball Relay, Stocking Stuffers and Musical Stalls. Our students
really impressed us, especially with how difficult it was to get them
to drop their snowflakes and be eliminated! It just goes to show how
much progress everyone is making. We were also very pleased with how
well our School Horses enjoyed the games.
Summer 2014 What's New at Stathclair!
As we hope you’ve noticed, we have done a great deal of work to the farm over the summer months, in an effort to upgrade services and improve the appearance of the farm. The grass has been mowed and debris has been cleaned up. Fencing has been repaired and/or replaced, the bleachers and fencing around the arena have been freshened up with a new coat of paint, and C Barn has been extensively cleaned and reorganized to be more functional and better suit the new and improved lesson program. Our dedicated staff and work to ride students have done a great job and we sincerely thank them for all of their hard work! The Work to Ride Program implemented this summer has been a HUGE success! The girls worked in the barn, assisted with summer camps and did all kinds of farm improvements in exchange for riding lessons and summer camp. Being a working student is a LOT of work, but you gain invaluable experience in and out of the saddle. Also a huge thank you to Monique Van Denzen-Brandow of Brandow Painting and Amelia Ritchie of Benjamin Moore Paints for painting and the donation of some paint for the ring! It's amazing the difference. As well as Daniel Black and Steven Brandow that are doing a fabulous job on maintenance to get the farm back to good form!
